Meet Chef Karen Crawford-Moore
Born and raised on the south side of Chicago, IL, I followed the conventional path of pursuing a college education in Operations Management. For nine years, I navigated the corporate landscape, but deep down, I knew my true passion lay elsewhere.
Throughout my journey, my talent for baking cakes became a standout hobby. Encouraged by the praise of family and friends, I decided to refine my skills by enrolling in cake decorating classes. Eager to expand my culinary horizons further, I enrolled in culinary school, immersing myself in every facet of baking and pastry and culinary arts, taking every class offered, eventually earning an Associates’ degree in Culinary Arts, in addition to a Certificate in Baking and Pastry.
My career took a pivotal turn when I joined Con Agra Foods, working in research and development. Though I eventually parted ways with the company, it proved to be a blessing in disguise—a catalyst that led me to explore the dynamic world of restaurant kitchens.
It was during this time that I discovered my passion for personal chef services. Cooking weekly for my first personal chef client sparked a new direction in my career—one that I continue to pursue passionately to this day. Alongside providing personalized chef services, I offer event catering and conduct private cooking lessons and demonstrations.
Looking ahead, I am thrilled to soon introduce retail sales of my beloved quiche pies, marking another exciting chapter in my culinary journey.
It has been an incredible ride filled with challenges and triumphs, but above all, it’s the joy of serving others and evolving in these diverse culinary avenues that fuels my dedication every day.
